Chains of War - DLC/Standalone for Command Modern Air Naval Operations

155 mm shells crossing the waters towards enemy targets near Yonan, Krangyong and Changyong. Our eclectic hunter killer group of aging Type 214s and 209-1200s can't locate a radar contact just a handful of miles south of the island of Chodo. Two North Korean vessels (hopefully just gunboats) just sailed out of the Sagot naval dock. Our Block 52 F-16CJs had unleashed a handful of AGM-88B missiles against SAM defenses opposite our installations in Yeonpyeong Island. A flight of North Korean Mig-23s is flying south from Pukchang, rabid for a kill.

WarfareSims and Matrix/Slitherine just got you into another war, and just 6 minutes into it, it gets you sweating. Even when you are winning so far.

Krasny Oktyabr Tanker Heroes - Steel Beasts ProPE v4.019

In a previous mission, I did put players into Soviet BMP-2s. Now, I'm improving the mission and getting the players to ride T-72 tanks.

Please join me in a video report showcasing gameplay of this upcoming new mission.

Steel Division Normandy 44 - Scouts Out

Some wargamers tend to see their reconnaissance units as pawns. Let's them do what they are meant to.

This Panzer IV moves for the kill. Targets and safe route to contact kindly provided by scouts.

Debrief: Retaliation - DCS: AJS37 Viggen (Beta)

Mission for today: show of force against Russian-backed forces from Abkhazia who shot heavy mortar rounds towards Zugdidi.

On station near Zugdidi, setting up weapons. The DCS Viggen has one of the most beautiful virtual cockpits in the series. It was not long ago that it didn't even have shadows.

Combat Mission Black Sea Gets a Battle Pack

The Battle Pack 1 for Combat Mission Black Sea was released last week. With two campaigns (one for the USA, the other one for Russia) six standalone scenarios and 27 new quick battle maps, this is the first official content that takes advantage of the newest engine (engine 4).

The video clip above is from a quick battle scenario I'm playing against the Russian computer opponent. It shows some scenes at a river crossing and the cramped toe-hold from where to continue the advance.

The map I picked for this one is "Village (912x1024)", one of the newly released quick battle maps from Battle Pack 1.

Combat Mission Fortress Italy Got the "Engine 4" Treatment

And what an enjoyable game continues to be. I am in the process of revisiting my favorites scenarios and I noticed that many of them play differently than in previous iterations. Most noticeable for me is the behavior of infantry.

One more bazooka team out of action. Screenshot from "Catch a Tiger", a favorite of mine that teaches  you the value of delaying contact with the enemy.

Steel Division Normandy 44 - The Road Bend from Hell

A beta for Steel Division Normandy 44 is available through Steam.

I blundered an armored vehicle through the sights of an unseen German AT gun (somewhere in the background). Note the armored infantry dismounting on the right.
This real time strategy war game is from the makers of the acclaimed Wargame series. This beta features two maps and the skirmish mode only. Yet, there is a lot of game time in it.

Steel Beasts ProPE 4.019 - Firing Positions Do Expire

In case you didn't know, Steel Beasts had a new update which brings it to version 4.019.

A nice firing position, which I should never, never, never hold on to for too long.

Scourge of War Waterloo - Wavre DLC - Pushed From the Dyle - AAR

A new DLC has been released for the Scourge of War Waterloo series. This AAR is for the smallest of the scenarios included in the DLC. I'm in command of a tiny force of Prussians (some 2700 men, no support of any kind), the first contestants against the French trying to link up with Napoleon.

The initial deployment had my forces too exposed to the French (which are advancing from the far background) so I decided to move all my command across the Dyle River.
